Ron James

Head Coach

Coach James joins the Atlantic City Blackjacks for their inaugural season and brings a large playbook of knowledge to the table. James is a two-time AFL Coach of the Year recipient, first in 2012 and most recently 2017.

James began his football career at Siena College after he accepted a scholarship, where he was an All-American offensive lineman. His coaching career began in 1986, where he started as the Linebackers Coach for Siena College. After coaching for multiple NCAA teams and assistant jobs in the Arena Football League, James was named the head coach of the Las Vegas Gladiators in 2004.

In 2015, The Tampa Bay Storm finished with a 2-14 record and on October 25, 2016, James was named the head coach. He led the Storm to a 10-4 regular season record and a berth in ArenaBowl XXX.  Coach James helped the Storm become the first team in AFL history to have a winning percentage of less than .200 in a season and then earn an ArenaBowl berth the following season. He was named Coach of the Year for his efforts.
